Here’s what I’m reading this week:
- Stiletto Stoners, lol. Though I think Jezebels commentary on it is a better read.
- Sarah Haskins is still awesome, this episode on using ‘hot’ women to sell products to men.
- Paige Schilt on The Bilerico Project writes an anecdotal list on finding books to explain bodies, sex, and sexuality in an age-appropriate way to children.
- Donate to CARE! An organization that provides girls with “textbooks in subjects such as math, science, economics and history.”
- Three Americans share the Nobel Prize for Medicine… and two of them are women!
- Okay, I’m going to be honest here. Normally I don’t give a shit about what celebrities do in their lives, or gossip, or news articles over a month old that aren’t political in nature, but OMG Ellen Page and Drew Barrymore are adorable and I have no idea if they are together but I hope so.
- Sex-ed, Star Wars style, lol. What kind of sex educator would Yoda have been?
- A German Magazine is banning professional models from their pages as a way to combat unrealistic body images. Pretty awesome, I think.
- New Oklahoma Abortion Law Requires Full Disclosure.
- I just like to post things from thisindexed.com; I think the index cards/posts are funny.
- Interesting article on society and media maybe looking too hard for abuse, to the point where people no longer feel safe to properly parent their children.
- This law passed (thankfully,) but 30 Republicans actually voted against it because, you know, “because companies, not women, deserve due process under the law” (Quote from article, not a Republican. Well she could be one, idk, but I doubt it.)
- The Female Condom 2: Cheaper, Thinner, and a Lot Less Squeaky
- I wasn’t going to post anything more on Polanski (the bloggers and media having covered it enough) but then I changed my mind (about posting, not him.)
- Obama to name gay man Ambassador to New Zealand.
- Victory for the woman in jail suing because she was shackled to the bed while giving birth!
- “Discrimination only enables more discrimination, and “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” appears to be no exception to this rule.”
- On immigration enforcement and how it effects/hurts women.
- Swedish six-graders take on Toy-R-Us for gender discrimination.
- A couple lost their 17yr old daughter after Cigna refused to pay for a liver transplant, and then heckled at the couple when they came in to ask for an apology.
- Oh! And how awesome, that in the US our president is the proud owner of the 2009 Nobel Peace Prize?
What are you reading? Or writing, for that matter?
